Painting by : Ms. Nisarga S M
This is my favourite type of painting which am really obsessed with. This style is called as Hase Chitra or Hase Painting, which is usually practiced in Malnad region by the Deewaru community in Shivamogga, Sagara & Uttara Kannada districts of Karnataka. In olden days these paintings were done on walls, pots and wells. On the surface as background they used red mud which is abundantly seen in this region and for designs they used white paint derived from rice paste and white mud. There used to be many hidden stories of kings, tradition and culture in this style of painting.
