Painting by : Harshitha D Dear Readers: A glance at this drawing may evoke many responses and thoughts. I have drawn this picture keeping in mind the current situation. We have lost many people around us due to the infectious disease known as COVID-19, at the same time we have lost many people by suicide due to failure to cope with life’s demands. This shows that the pandemic days have created so much of imbalance in the people's mental health. The situation is getting worse day by day. But if we look at the whole situation objectively we notice that many people have recovered from the infection by being positive, learning to improve their immunity. Others have learnt to take responsibility to maintain their health both physical and mental by motivating themselves to follow healthy life style. Thus my painting portrays that it all depends on how a person maintains ones mental health...if we nourish ourselves with good practices then we can lead a healthy fruitful and enric...

THE ROMANTICISM OF MENTAL ILLNESS

     We live in a generation where mental health issues are often being romanticized, to an extent where they seem to be desirable. Portraying mental illness on social websites, books or movies is a path that must be approached with caution. Mental health issues are real, and they can ruin lives and people who genuinely suffer with them often find them embarrassing and near impossible to talk about. On the other side, there are others who see them as some kind of quirky personality traits that make them special and different from the others and thus somehow more desirable. It is also used a tool to grab attention towards themselves. It has become an accessory among people who self diagnose or have no understanding of what it actually is. It isan uncomfortable truth and it has many aspects to itself.
